It is actually quite simple really.  Mirror the SRPMS from updates.redhat.com 
then produce RPMs using rpmbuild --rebuild package.src.rpm.  Create a yum 
repository, then all that is required to keep your machine up to date is 'yum 
update'.

Using network installations or ISOs incorporating all the errata packages, it 
makes installation a lot easier than using the real RHEL+up2date.

Of course you wont get support from RH if you build your own version, but some 
people just want a slow moving stable release and the errata packages.
