Sure hook up a modem to the phone line then you will be surfing the net
on the dsl link  and faxing over the voice side ( < 4 KHz IIRC )  the
filters that are placed on the phne side are essentially a low pass
filter that attenuates the higher freqs. used by the dsl modem.
