Just wondering.... Do you folks have prefered backup utils and methods? ie tar or cpio, perhaps something else? Is there a beter way to backup, instead of tape perhaps to another Harddrive?
Just a thought that occured to me, I would like to see if my backup methodologies are correct.

there are many different opinions on this, no "best" answer for me i use a script called "bu" by Vincent Stemen do a search on google "vincent stemen +bu" this script has been revised and tuned for many years designed more for backup to hdisk than to tape
