*** Sorry if this is old news but for me it came as a surprise: Cisco
systems has bought psionic, the editor behind the free security software
like portsentry, hostsentry and logcheck.

A question to all of you: Guess what happened to these freeware utilities?

I'll give you a lead: Cisco will be offering portsentry with their
products...

Portsentry's code can't be modified but can be distributed freely and
logcheck is GNU licensed. However both packages aren't available on Cisco's
site.
 
For anybody depending on these software, either download the latest version
now (if you can find it) and keep it somewhere safe or if you already have
it, make sure you don't loose it!
