Sounds like some pieces in your HD are dying. Now what to do? Not much, as far as I know, beside replacing it and restore your backup. If the data on it is really, really critical, you can send it to a "Recovery Company" that specialized in data recovery from damage HD. But this will cost you many, many, many times more than a brand new HD.
