I have dual system on my Compaq Evo N800C laptop. The
default is Red Hat 9, and the other one is Win XP.

Both were working find until probably I ran fsck or
e2fsck. I am not sure though.

I ran /sbin/lilo and got this fatal message:

Added Linux *
Fatal: First sector of /dev/hda1 doesn't have a valid
boot signature

Then when I attempted to reboot the system to Win XP.
What I saw on the top left corner of the black screen
is this:

Loading Windows XP
L?

And that's all, and it hangs there.

I searched the Web, and found limited info about this.
One newsgroup post seems to say that the Windows XP
file system has been changed to dynamic disk and needs
to be reverted to basic disk. But it only gives a
link to microsft site which only tells you how to
switch between basic and dynamic disk under windows
system. Obviously, I cannot do this since I cannot
boot to Windows at all.

I have no problem booting to my Red Hat 9 linux
system.

I don't wanna reinstall everything. Any idea on how
to fix this please? Thanks a lot.

Antony
