i did a search about this on google and found this: ou can also change the resolution within a running X "on the fly" by ctr-alt-+ (or -) provided your XF86Config is configured properly.
SubSection "Display" Depth 8 Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" Virtual 1024 768 Besides the Modes, you also have to supply a Virtual resolution (currently only tested with X 3.3.6). thats a really old version of X, whats with the "Virtual" keyword? also, i tried switching on the fly like you described, but it didn't work (i had multiple modes, but ctrl-alt-+/- didn't work). thanks for your help, -- christopher On Wednesday 03 September 2003 01:22 am, NfoCipher wrote: > On Wed, 2003-09-03 at 00:15, christopher j bottaro wrote: > > i run my desktop environment at 1152x864. i want to play games (like > > quake3, unreal tournament 2003, and america's army) at 1024x768 without > > having to restart my xserver. how would i accomplish this? > > In your /etc/X11/XF86Config , you add your resolutions under > Section "Screen" > Modes "1152x864" "1024x768" "etc" "etc" > restart X > Then while in X, you would hit ctrl-alt-+ and ctrl-alt-- to cycle > between them (if I remember right, its been a while). > > -- > NfoCipher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > ChickenWare, LLC > Co-lo or dedicated Linux box as low as $35/month - www.SpeedWorks.com -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
