I've a newly installed RH 8 machine, with current patches via RHN, that
is not starting the lockd process at boot. I am unable to NFS mount
remote partitions and get "mount: RPC: Timed out". Can someone point me
to documentation on how to get the kernel to start this process at boot
( I thought it was supposed to happen by default ) or info on why the
process is not starting. An rpcinfo output shows:

 program vers proto port
    100000 2 tcp 111 portmapper
    100000 2 udp 111 portmapper
    100024 1 udp 32768 status
    100024 1 tcp 32768 status

 Thanks in advance.
