and apologies if this problem's already been discussed. I have a Dell 4600, P4, with an onboard soundcard (Intel 82801EB AC'97 Audio), which does not work under RH9. Running sndconfig reports that the card is not supported. Is there a way to get RH to use it without having to build a customised kernel? I've built the latest version of ALSA, and although that builds and installs without any gripes, it fails to coax any sound out of the machine, even though sound applications seem to be running (e.g. mpg123). Yes, I've unmuted the relevant channels.
Any help will be thorouhly appreciated.
