Hello everyone:

I just joined and I have a question about RH9. I'm
using that distro in my laptop (IBM T30, Pentium 4,
768MB Ram).

When I use applications such as Xine, Cinelerra,
Xmovie, etc and when I load a movie and try to change
the volume or fast-forward or whatever I do with the
graphical interface, the application freezes. The
movies play OK, but cannot control the dialogs, resize
the window, minimize it, etc. The only way to stop is
by CTRL-C (if I start the application from the command
tool of course)

In the case of Xine for example, I thought it was a
problem with the rpm I downloaded, so I compiled it
from the tar ball, but the problem persisted.

That happens in KDE, Gnome, IceWM and have really no
idea why. I noticed that in RH8 I had no problems at
all.

Could I be missing some important files in RH9?

(Just for the record. One of these days I needed to
compile a program using the glut libraries. I had to
remove the glut rpm from RH9 and intall the one from
RH8 because in RH9 the new glut libraries did not link
correctly to my applications!!! I wonder whether I
have to do the same for Xine, etc. but don't know
which files I would need to change.)

I appreciate your suggestions/help.

Cesar
