Hello list

I have two hrad drives

i am currently setting the parameters by passing arguments in /etc/sysconfig/harddisks.

i.e.

MULTIPLE_IO=16
EIDE_32BIT=3
LOOKAHEAD=1
USE_DMA=1
INTERRUPT_UNMASK=1
TRANSFER_MODE=66

The primary drive hda isa seagate 40GB and seemsto
run fairly well

My new drive a Maxtor 160GB partitioned into 3 fat32
and one ext3 is very slow to write.

What is the best way to set harddrive parameters? How
do I figure out the best settings for each disk.
Can it be done automatically?

Also I am mounting all these fat partitions at boot,
but can only write to them as root.
My fstab options I just tried defaults and auto,rw.

Can I smbmount a drive from another networked windows computer at boot?

Thanks if anyone can help.

Pete
