Anton,

    If you can give some more detailed information of what you are 
seeing it would help.   Did you get the same error after changing 
the home directory of the user?   What are the paths you are using?
Does the user have permissions to all of the files in the ftp server?

    What i can tell you is that i was able to reproduce the your
problem until i changed the home directory of the user to /.
This in itself is probably not the ideal solution but should let
you install.
