Try this instead -- Create a new user and log in as that user to see if the desktop, etc. are OK. If so it means that files in your home directory are messed up. You can fix things by copying the right files from the new user to your home directory (don't forget to set the ownerships correctly). If not, then you might want to reinstall the RPMs for whatever desktop manager (Gnome, KDE) you are using. -- Robert C.
