hello redhatters,

seems both my usb modem, and my usb printer, are incapable of any error
recovery? i dunno whether to point the finger at my box's usb hardware,
the kernel (2.4.20-18.9), or drivers?

two of our phones have dsl filters, the 3rd doesn't. if anyone lifts
that 3rd phone, my dsl connection is dead until i poweroff. reboot not
good enough. (BT Voyager, usb driver eciadsl.flashtux.org)

if my printer happens to jam, redhat-config-printer reports "USB port
busy; will retry in 30 seconds..." telling cups to stop it and start it
again is no help. from what i see so far i'm presuming switching to
lprng would be a waste of time. it stays dead until i reboot. (epson
sylus color 580)

i'm soliciting any suggestions or wisdom y'all may have..

thank you,
-greg
