Hello,
I’d like to configure an imaging scheme that uses Ghost to create backup images of my Win machines to a Samba share. I am using Ghost 2003 but I have run into a snag. I can successfully configure Ghost to place my image file on a Samba share through Windows but when the system reboots itself, it can not connect to Samba through a DOS session.
I presume that Ghost is using NETBEUI to communicate with networked machines and I am not 100% sure if Samba is configured to communicate through this protocol or, if it isn’t, can it be configured to do so?
Also, are there any imaging schemes, that are purely Linux driven, that can take a copy of a Windows machine? I suppose if I could place a TCPIP setup on a DOS client, I could image the entire system over a network using Linux + Samba. Has anyone done this with success?
Thanks,
Alejandro
If your network cards are relatively well branded, you can create a ghost network boot disk which will do this.
Use it all the time.
