Seems like more of Artsd problem then ?

Right. What I meant is I started manually rather than let KDE started it 
(since I don't use KDE).

I have a built in Via sound card also in this machine, but I disable it from 
bios and use my SB card (I like the sound better). I don't really want to 
reboot to try it out now, but when I have to, I'll try the built in sound 
card with Artsd and OSS. It could be that your problem is a combination of 
both artsd and your card problem.

Sorry can't be really helpful at this point.
