I would expect rawhide to be the bleeding edge version of severn which is the beta of the consumer release. taroon is the beta of Enterprise Linux.
Incorrect.
Taroon is the beta for a new release of Red Hat Linux (I don't recall whether consumer or enterprise). Rawhide, on the other hand, is not a release at all; it is the testing ground where all the latest packages are and where those packages get hammered and bent into shape. A beta such as Taroon will be of reasonably good quality and should overall be pretty stable; Rawhide packages are usually nowhere near stable and are likely to crash your machine.
