Taroon is the beta for a new release of Red Hat Linux (I don't recall whether consumer or enterprise). Rawhide, on the other hand, is not a release at all; it is the testing ground where all the latest packages are and where those packages get hammered and bent into shape. A beta such as Taroon will be of reasonably good quality and should overall be pretty stable; Rawhide packages are usually nowhere near stable and are likely to crash your machine.
