First off, sorry bout the previous message. I keep telling Outlook 2003
Beta not to use HTML, but it insists often...

I recently formatted and installed RH 9 after having used RH 8 for a while.
Under 8, my PCMCIA slots worked fine, and I used a 3COM Etherlink III for
network access since the TP 760 is too old to have a built-in NIC. At any
rate, when I installed 9, my PCMCIA slots stopped working, either with this
card or another one I have. I know this much:

The slots pass the on-board tests, and the cards work in another machine.

PCMCIA service is stopped, though it is set to start on boot, and when I
tried to start it I get a lot of errors and it doesn’t work. The error
reads “/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/yenta_socket.o:
init_module: No such device”.

I’ve tried using the cardctl command but I get the “no pcmcia driver in
/proc/devices/”

Hardware browser reads the PCMCIA as manufactured by Texas Instruments and
driver as yenta_socket.

I’ve checked the pcmcia file in /etc/sysconfig and it reads:

PCMCIA=yes
PCIC=i82365
PCIC_OPTS=
CORE_OPTS=

On boot, I get the error as follows. (It used to say “Please try
pci=biosirq” but using this only made that part of the error message go
away)

PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 00:02.0
PCI: No IRQ known for interrupt pin B of device 00:02.0

This problem is very frustrating, as my access to the network (and thus, the
Internet) depends on the use of the PCMCIA slots. It happens every time I
boot, without exception. I’ve tried looking around the net for solutions,
but haven’t found any that work.

Thanks for any help.
