OpenOffice is included in RHEL 3 beta 1. Here's a quick list of what's enhanced in this beta (from the announcement yesterday): - Desktop enhancements * XFree86 4.3.0 * Bluecurve (tm) graphical user interface (Unified GNOME/KDE look and feel) * OpenOffice.org 1.0.2 office productivity suite * Ximian Evolution 1.4.3 * Mozilla 1.4 Now given that RHEL has a 5+ year life cycle, this means that this configuration will be supported for at least 5 years. Reading between the lines, we also know that that the consumer releases (e.g. RHL 9) are the real betas for the RHEL releases. I would conclude that the rumour is baseless. As long as Red Hat continues to provide consumer releases, they will provide desktop tools for those. Disclaimer: I don't have any inside knowledge of what Red Hat is doing. My guesses are based on publicly available information. -- Ed Wilts, Mounds View, MN, USA mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Member #1, Red Hat Community Ambassador Program -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
