In answer to Jim Snyder's question, there are a bunch of folks here at
BBN (GTE Internetworking) using Linux and Java and a number of other
platforms to implement open GIS solutions in a distributed

A number of us developers use Linux because we really like it, but
activity in general is cross-platform.
