Hi... When running RH 9.0, do I need to have sendmail running to just send mail out? W./out it running, I get a
$ mail -v root Subject: test Cc: root... Connecting to [127.0.0.1] via relay... root... Deferred: Connection refused by [127.0.0.1] And /var/log/maillog shows : Jul 23 13:18:48 hostname sendmail[26485]: h6NHImgr026485: to=root, ctladdr=testuser (111/10), delay=00:00:00, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=30024, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection refused by [127.0.0.1] With it running, all is fine. >From what I've seen on the net, it appears that sendmail when running on a RH 8 or 9 host, it only accepts incoming from localhost, which is fine for me if I have to run it as a daemon. If I don't have to run it as a daemon, it would be better.
