I run RH 9 on an IBM Thinkpad X22. I have had no issues during install or since. I have been running it since RH 9 first came out, time flies so please don't expect me to remember the exact date ;-) I run it on a wired network here at work with the standard Nic and I use an Orinoco Gold Wireless card on my home network. I have had no issues with the wireless portion or wired either for that matter. Hope this helps.
