Okay.
Here's the deal:
recompile the kernel move it to /boot/vmlinuz-new.
I get it so I can boot that kernel and everything is good.  I boot it and
I get the following message:

    VFS: Cannot open root device 03:06
    Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:06

This is the second time I have recompiled and gotten this message.  Any
help would be appreciated greatly.
