I've been , for the past two days, trying to configure my recently
purchased
Sound Blaster awe64 gold, but I am startin' to pull my hair on this.
I tried to use " sndconfig" but it keeps dumping cores all over the
place. I also tried " sndconfig --noprobe, however, it seems to me
that I always fail at "modprobe" (regardless of IO, IRQ or DMA)
I booted few times , but /dev/sndstat remains silent. I tried to use
pnptools , forget about that. Here's what I've done few dozens
of times ( ughrrrrrrrrrrrrr):
first I run "pnpdump > /etc/isapnp.conf" then I recompile kernel
I compile all neccessary drivers as modules except "/dev/dsp
and /dev/audio support. (BTW I also get this error message:
kernel: sb: dsp reset failed)
make xconfig, after that " make dep, make clean , make modules,
make modules_install"
After "make modules_isntall" I get one error message : cannot cp
sound_syms.o ( any clues? I am in the shadow.)
I am realy confused, so I you find this incoherent, please, drop
me a mail so I could clerify, Jeee
