Just wondering if anybody has been able to get Red Hat Linux to display a bootsplash image at startup - also with the ability to silence the console kernel/text messages. I realize Suse and Mandrake have utilities and the abilities to do it but I am wary of using those distros since Red Hat has been very compatible and stable for all of our usage. I had a custom kernel built using the patches from www.bootsplash.org but they were not effective. I also used the Linux Progress Patch to patch a 2.4.20 kernel with no luck. I simply get garbled text and distorted penguin at the top of the screen and then the kernel panics. Is it even possible to do in Red Hat Linux?? I would love to hear from someone who has got it to run.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated - thanks -
