I am working with a customer on this issue. He has an IBM x305 server, Adaptec ultra 160 scsi controller, and a quantum atl superloader dlt drive. Linux sees the drive as does the software he plans to use (arkeia). He is able to do a status on the drive below and it shows ok if there is no tape in...but when he adds a tape he gets errors (see below). The self diagnostics has read/write tests that all pass. He is just not able to read or write to tapes in linux. I read somewhere even though a tape is loaded, it isn't "ready" to be used yet.
-------Output with no tape in drive------- [EMAIL PROTECTED] root]# mt -f /dev/st0 status SCSI 2 tape drive: File number=-1, block number=-1, partition=0. Tape block size 0 bytes. Density code 0x0 (default). Soft error count since last status=0 General status bits on (50000): DR_OPEN IM_REP_EN -------Output with tape in drive------- [EMAIL PROTECTED] bin]# mt -f /dev/st0 status /dev/st0: Input/output error Any help is greatly appreciated!
