Title: RPM and source tarballs

There was a thread a few days ago that pointed enlightenment as a light window manager/desktop compared to kde or gnome.

Just out of curiosity I went to the website and looked at what was available there. Found an enlightenment-*.rpm package and a few needed libraries in source tarballs.

Installing the enlightenment rpm I got a few dependent libraries that were needed before such as imlib and fnlib. I got the sources from the same web page and make the usual procedure ( configure, make & make install) but the rpm still complained about the missing libraries.

My question, for somebody with more experience than me, is:

Is the rpm package management system incompatible with compilation/installation directly from source?
Could this be solved by a 'rpm --rebuilddb' after compiling the sources?

Regards

Eduardo
