Heh. We're a distance learning center with a couple hundred classes that
we offer, and several sections within each class. Each section has their
own discussion board which students can post to and read. The discussion
board software we're using is a Perl program called wwwboard, and it
requires a separate copy of the Perl scripts that drive it in each
directory for each section; hence, we have several hundred copies of
wwwboard.pl and wwwboard.html floating around our system. And now we're
in the process of upgrading our site from WindowsNT to Unix, but because
of some other software we have running on our system (specifically, Cold
Fusion and JRun -- eugh), Perl scripts will only run if they are
referenced with an absolute URL. Believe me, I've poked and prodded and
beaten Apache within an inch of its life and haven't made it work
otherwise.
