(RH8, fully updated from RHN).

Strange behavior:

When using 'ncftp', if I give the command:

open <hostname>

I get back the message 'Unknown host <hostname>', BUT, if I first give:

lookup <hostname>

'ncftp' correctly sends back the numerical IP address of <hostname> and,
then:

open <absolute_IP_address>

works O.K. Also, all of my browsers and other IP-dependent applications
work fine (which, as far as I can understand, indicates that hostname
resolution functions correctly in my system). What is more interesting,
I can comfortably use symbolic host names in classic old 'ftp' client
(and I can almost certainly recall that, last time I had to carry out
heavy downloads - one or two months ago, 'ncftp' used to resolve
symbolic host names correctly).

Any ideas on why this happens in 'ncftp'? I very much like the program
and I would like to continue using it, getting rid of this small
annoyance.

"rpm -qa | fgrep 'ncftp'" gives "ncftp-3.1.3-6"...

TIA,
