Well, if you're bound and determined to pull this apart piece by piece 
in order to figure out what is and isn't broken boot up with your 
favorite linux diskette, mount the hard drive,  and see if an 
uncompromised set of utilities; "rm" et. all, can get rid of the pesky 
critters.

Well, pooh, I don't know what this world is coming to if you can't dash
