Which leads to a question of my own: I don't really want to compile the full kernel - I'm reasonably happy with the stock RH (currently 2.4.20-18.7), but I *need* to build the ALSA driver (I've got an ISA PnP soundcard that's not supported by anything else, and no more PCI slots....). Now, I can install the source...but a) *can* I build the ALSA module without building the whole kernel; b) would I need the make install, or can I just *put* the sucker into /lib/modules/2.4.<blah,blah,blah>/kernel/drivers/sound c) do I need to upgrade my gcc (2.96.113), and, if so, to what? d) oh, and how about libc.... mark -- "One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors." -- Plato -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
