Hi,

Since installing and cofiguring RH9 on our
mail server, users are getting errors on their
mail clients.

USER PASS failed, and message about the inbox mailbox
not being in the correct format. Upon looking
at the inbox, in /var/spool/mail it initially
looks empty... but actually has 1 byte when listed.
The one byte is a space I think.. or just end of line
or something. If you delete the byte, then the message
goes away also when new mail comes in, the problem
goes away, so it's non critical, but users love to
complain of course. I'm using stock imap/pop server that
comes with RH9. Anyone know how to fix this? via
an RPM.. I can obviously get a new version and compile
it, but that pretty much defeats the purpose of RPMs...
and I like RPMs and source RPMS as well, but I am
increasingly finding problems with things in RPMS
and the only solution is to get tarballs and build them.

Thanks

Bill
