Actually, when my parents Winbox was up, I was using a combo of samba and CUPS to connect to my parents USB printer. What he needs to do is open the Control Panel, System, Printing Manager and go from there. When it asks where the printer is, go to your command line and type in smbclient -L ip of winbox, then go back to the print manager and type in the path to the printer. This should work. Of course you'll have to enter in the pw/login if needed.
