<snip>It doesn't sound like your connecting to the Winbox's printer. Samba on the Linux box would be for sharing printers running on the Linux box to the Winbox. The Samba Client might connect to the Windows printer, but you need something on the Linux box to connect to the Winbox.
Actually, when my parents Winbox was up, I was using a combo of samba and CUPS to connect to my parents USB printer. What he needs to do is open the Control Panel, System, Printing Manager and go from there. When it asks where the printer is, go to your command line and type in smbclient -L ip of winbox, then go back to the print manager and type in the path to the printer. This should work. Of course you'll have to enter in the pw/login if needed.
