Y'all are probably right in that slowdowns I encounter when logging in remotely are probably due to bandwidth issues in the cable modems I get in the various hotel rooms, and not X itself. When I have run top or ps in the past, I've noticed that, after Mozilla, X is the largest consumer of system resources. Naturally I don't have Mozilla running when I go on the road; I also make sure I disable my screensaver (actually, since I'm the road 90%, I usually find it's easier just to never have my screensaver on in the first place). -- Slainte, Richard S.
