[michael@fred michael]$ uname -a
Linux fred 2.0.34 #10 Tue Jun 23 19:21:38 CDT 1998 i586 unknown
[michael@fred michael]$ rpm -q md
md-035-3

Of course that rpm dates to before I upgraded from 5.0 to 5.1, and I
haven't tried to do any raiding since, so what you say about problems
with current versions could still foul me up.

But I definitely had it working under 5.0 at one time, and with little
grief. Unfortunately I ditched the rpm file itself, which sort of makes
it difficult to set up md on a new machine.

um. . . are you sure? Don't I need some config tools (mdadd, mdrun
etc.)?

a) I access ftp servers with Netscape all the time, but

b) no, I tried it from the command line, and got a DNS failure; not just
a connection failure but an honest-to-goodness
we-don't-have-this-one-on-file.

I shall, but what I want is, I believe, raid0. Will I need the linux
threads package for that too?

And once it's in my kernel, how do I set it up, if not with the md
tools? md is all I've ever used for this.
