OHO!  Sorry, I (and I think others) had assumed that you meant
compressed files that were made _on_ those boxen.

Well, then, this is starting to sound like more of a data transfer
problem.

How do you d/l files?  ftp?  Do you use a 'standard' client or something
fancy?  Do you always d/l via the same path (same machine/same
modem/same isp) or does it vary?

When you say that rpm's work fine, are they also being downloaded, or
are they from a cd?

Have you been checking the sizes of your downloaded files against the
sizes on the remote sites?

Do you notice anything WRT the size of the files vs. the likelihood that
they will be botched?

What about running some test-compresses on the RH box and then
uncompressing/unzippin/unghexing or whatever on the other boxen?

When you connect to remote machines for download, assuming that you're
using an ftp client, does it go to binary mode automatically?
