Hello Marco,
Due to the needed libraries to run CDE, it is not *free* or *shareware*.
There are some fvwm2 look-alikes and SUN gives it to Solaris owners.
I have both Xi Graphics and RedHat (TriTeal), versions and both
work and have very few differences overall.
