No, that is 'mail', an MUA which is separate from 'sendmail' (an MTA). I do not recommend using 'mail' as your MUA. It works, but there are easier MUAs available. I recommend pine, mutt, or elm if you're using a console. Pine is the easiest to learn, elm is the most lightweight, and mutt is the most flexible and powerful.
