I guess it is because many people reply both to sender and to the list. Anyway, if you have a file you are not certain what is, try the "file" command: file j2sdk-1_3_1_06-linux-i586.rpm.bin j2sdk-1_3_1_06-linux-i586.rpm.bin: Bourne shell script text executable Then you know much more what to do with it.
