check your SCSI cable. sometimes such errors are caused by a bad cable
(e.g. using a standard cable instead of a LVD cable for devices that
require LVD). Also check the termination of the SCSI chain maybe a
terminator is bad. I've had similar messages when either the cable
or the terminator did not support LVD, the drive would work fine for
a while, then it would usually start coughing up errors(DLT8000)
