I have a new Dell Inspiron 2650. Power management stuff doesn't work
because it uses acpi rather than apm, and I haven't the nerve to mess
with the kernel to make acpi work.

So, is there any way to monitor battery state apart from compiling the
acpi support into the kernel? Is there a command I can run from a shell
prompt to query battery state? I thought I read some such on a usenet
post, but have been unable to find it since.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Bill Johnson
