I am in the same situation, and wondered what this file is for. The information in the on-line docs didn't make this clear to me. The answer was cleared up by this book: Sendmail (3rd. ed.), Bryan Costales with Eric Allman, O'Reilly. Dec 2002. The short answer is, no don't mess with this file. However, you need to create this user and group if they don't already exist: user: smmsp group: smmsp There are exceptions to the above. You'd need to read the _Sendmail_ book to determine if you have any reason to make changes to this file. Carl G.
