That's what I'm trying to do. I have the authoring software (Gear for Linux) and am learning how it works. I'm replacing my windows authoring package (DVD Dazzle). I have a quicktime mov file that I needed to convert to Mpeg. I've received a few answers and will be going through them probably this weekend (since I have some time available then).
Wish me luck :D --------------------- Actually, I think some of the newer DVD's will play some of that >junk, but you are correct for older ones - you need to generate the >files you mentioned, and apply the encryption to them. I've heard that there are starting to appear players that will play the raw DIVX files. I suspect that if you have a MPEG-2 program stream on the disc, the player will show you the list of files, if it doesn't know waht to do with them, potentially allowing you to select and play. BTW, DVD authored discs do not require encryption, i.e., CSS. CSS cannot be applied by the home user. An AUTHOR disc or tape must be sent to a production house and they will apply the CSS to the VOB files. The GENERAL discs that we home users make are Macrovision free and CSS free. I can author discs that have the region code set, but never do :-) -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
