I have a problem with redhat 8.0. I upgraded from 7.1 to 8.0, and then nothing worked as far as networking was concerned. I managed to fix most of the problems but one.

I have 2 NICs from two different manufacturers. I used to have two from one manufacturer, but that didn't work. At the suggestion of redhat, I put in two new network cards. Anyway, the issue is is that when my machine boots, it swaps eth0 and eth1 and my machine's networking can't function properly. If I edit the modules.conf file to switch eth0 and eth1, switch the networking cables, and issue the following "/etc/init.d/network restart" everything works fine. This is reproducable at every reboot.

Granted I don't have to reboot that often, but this is sure annoying. I got no meaningful help from redhat, they finally told me to report it as a bug, but that doesn't solve my problem. Anyone here have any ideas.

thanks,

David Archer
