Hello all,
I'm having problems installing a netgear ma401ra pcmcia card on an IBM ThinkPad 600x.
I first tried editing /etc/pcmcia/config and the card will work, but performance is
poor and my syslogs fill up with entries for dropped packets. Next I installed the
wlan-ng drivers (rpm versions from http://prism2.unixguru.raleigh.nc.us) and they
correct the performance problem- temporarily. Now after so much network traffic goes
through the interface it stalls completely and appears to lock the entire system.
Pulling out the card and reinserting it frees the system and resets the connection,
but I'd rather not have to do this every 15 minutes. Does anyone have any help or tips
for using this card (which should work with linux according to everything I've read)?
I'm currently running RedHat 7.3, kernel 2.4.18-3, kernel-pcmcia 3.1.27-18, and
wlan-ng 0.1.15. Do I need to upgrade to RH 8.0? Or is there a configuration
problem/package I'm missing? Is my research wrong and I should try a compl!
ete
ly different card? Any help is hugely appreciated.

Regards,
Marty Rogers
