I think it's a bug in nss_ldap, but I haven't figured it out yet.  Check
bugzilla and see if there's a bug entered already.

RHL 8.0 seems to work correctly, so I think the bug's either been fixed
in the LDAP NSS module, or in the /etc/pam.d/system-auth that authconfig
writes.
