That's not good...  I've had good luck adding tape drives without rebooting
the machine.  I have had situations where the box became unstable but it
usually ended up being a termination issue.  The comments in scsi.c are
helpful also.

I think there are also issues with certain module/adapters.  My machine likes
to freak out if I probe past lun 0 (qlogic isp1020).
