As an aside: GNU grep (which is what comes with RHL) is also quite a bit more useful than older SunOS or Solaris greps (e.g. recursive grep)... :-) That used to be one of the things that ticked me off with Solaris at the time (I think it's better now). In any case, it might be an idea to describe what you're trying to accomplish in more detail - maybe someone on the list has an even better idea as to how to do it.
