I've heard you should never reply to yourself, but I found the official answer to my question from Minolta, but haven't heard if it's the FINAL answer. Since this is one of the, if not THE, least expensive, good quality color lasers out there, I figured others might be interested in my findings. QMS series printers that are not "CROWN" capable are NOT compatible with HPPCL, PCL, HPGL, or Postscript (CROWN printers can be made compatible). The language they use is GDI, which appears to be Minolta/QMS's private printer control language. Bummer... they don't support Linux or UNIX with any current implementations, and aren't promising future drivers for Linux. Maybe if more folks ask them to do a driver (even binary only....) they'll support it, though. I intend to try emailing them asking for support once a week or so until I get a linux driver :) I guess I'll have to have a Windows Print Server for my Linux boxes; SAMBA (or maybe WINE, if it'll work), here I come. Or is it not going to work, since it doesn't use a standard PCL? Anyone have a clue? At the price, for what my wife does, I can't pass it up; it's too good a machine for the cost, on our mixed network (50/50 Windows and Linux, 10 machines, at home). I just wish I had 100% coverage, instead of 50%. -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
