U can do auto filesystem check without restarting the system except root / file system, only thing is that u have to unmount the file system first and then  start the fsck -F filesystem -y /dev/hda/  for other file systems.

I would like to know whether if we can do auto filesystemcheck and fixes. with out a restart and without entering a password when the machine is switched off and on.
